Digest 00643: Reality Distinguished from Illusion

Written by Romapada Swami

Question: Are the services we are doing at present illusions?

Answer by Romapada Swami: It would be helpful for me to know why are you thinking like that.

Illusion means forgetting that which is the foundation, basis, and support of everything.

Let us take Kṛṣṇa prasādam for example.

In this world, there are many vegetarians.

But we are not just vegetarians.  We purchase, prepare, and offer items that are pleasing to Kṛṣṇa.  Then we take Kṛṣṇa prasādam.

Are the above-mentioned activities illusions?

Similarly, you can reflect upon any other activity of devotional service.

The standard of reality is the connection with the source of everything—Kṛṣṇa.

We may be interacting with things that are temporary. However, seeing those temporary things connected with their source of emanation and offering those items and activities to Kṛṣṇa is not an illusion.  It is reality.
