Question: Has there been a Chinese translation of Ramayana, to date?
Answer by Romapada Swami:
Yes. At least 25 years ago, Ramayana was translated into Chinese by Mr. Ji Xianlin (1911-2009), who was the master of Oriental Literature & the leading authority of Chinese traditional culture. The name of this great work was preserved as Ramayana, written in elegant Chinese, yet it was not at all devotional. He portrayed Sita-Rama as historical persons, displaying a major historical event of grief at separation and joy in union within a worldly love story. He also translated Mahabharata into Chinese.
