Question: Today I stumbled on this article and wanted to understand..is this true
https://samsung.dailyhunt.in/news/india/english/timesnownews+englishepapertnneng/when+two+souls+agree+to+swap+places+inside+a+living+body+why+and+when+this+may+happen-newsid-n570982014
It speaks of souls swapping bodies. One soul leaving a body and another entering. It made me think if someone’s body is reusable for another soul. Some senior Vaishnavas pointed to eg. Of Adi Shankaracharya doing so in occupying the body of a King but is it possible for a normal soul to leave the body at its will?

Answer by Romapada Swami:

The article that you are referring to, namely an explanation of “souls swapping bodies”, is not part of the teachings of the Srimad Bhagavatam or Bhagavad Gita. The fact that some senior Vaisnavas pointed out that Adi Shankaracharya was able to occupy the body of a king, I cannot comment. However, that is not a standard teaching or standard practice. Please just drop this notion altogether.
