Digest 00504: Yuga Avatars

Written by Romapada Swami

Question: I understand that the Supreme Lord came in the Satya-Yuga as Kapila-Deva to teach meditation, as Krishna in the Dwapara-Yuga to teach temple devotion, and as Sri Krishna Chaitanya in the Kali-Yuga Mahaprabhu to teach the glories of Sankirtan. However, I am having difficulty finding the name of the red avatar who came in the Treta-Yuga to teach the mysteries of fire sacrifice. Could you tell me the name of this Yuga-Avatar?

Answer by Romapada Swami: The yuga avatar for Treta Yuga is Yajna, who appeared to Brahma to establish fire sacrifice as the process for self-realization.
