Puranas in Three Modes Supremacy of Lord Krishna

Digest 00706: How to convince someone about Lord Krsna’s Supreme position while some puranas describe otherwise?

Question: One of my close relatives has been expressing doubt about why Lord Krsna alone is to be worshipped as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. When there are other scriptures such as Devi Bhagavatam (apparently compiled by Srila Vyasadeva) who claim that Devi is the Supreme. I am unable to convince her that Srimad Bhagavatam is the highest purana that we should accept. Another question I have: Why does Srila Vyasadeva write these different puranas, projecting different devatas as supreme. Sometimes people say that because you are following Vaishnavism, you are taking those portions of sastras, which tell Lord Krsna or Vishnu is the supreme.

Answer by Romapada Swami:

Vedas are very vast and provide instructions to various levels of people, so it is easy to get lost or confused. There are different sections of the Vedas meant for people in different modes- namely, mode of goodness, mode of passion, and mode of ignorance.

The purpose is to gradually elevate and attract those in these three different modes, elevating their consciousness gradually to transcendental goodness.

Also, generally one needs to have enough Sukriti to accept Krsna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
