Digest 00734: How to understand that Sisupala and Dantavakra attained salvation in oneness from SB 7.1 chapter though they were Jaya and Vijaya?

Question:
SB Canto 7, Chapter 1 Summary
“The second question raised by Parékñit Mahäräja concerns how Çiçupäla, although inimical toward Kåñëa from his very childhood and always blaspheming Kåñëa, attained salvation in oneness when Kåñëa killed him. Çukadeva Gosvämé explains that because of their offenses at the feet of devotees, two attendants of the Lord in Vaikuëöha named Jaya and Vijaya became Hiraëyakaçipu and Hiraëyäkña in Satya-yuga, Rävaëa and Kumbhakarëa in the next yuga, Tretä-yuga, and Çiçupäla and Dantavakra at the end of Dväpara-yuga. Because of their fruitive acts, Jaya and Vijaya agreed to become the Lord’s enemies, and when killed in that mentality, they attained salvation in oneness. Thus even if one thinks of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in envy, he attains salvation.”

It has been my understanding that Jaya and Vijaya, after taking their 3 births in material world, went back to the Vaikuntha as doorkeepers.  So what does this mean that “they attained salvation in oneness?”

Answer by Romapada Swami:

SB 7.1.20 purport: “Çiçupäla and Dantavakra were formerly Jaya and Vijaya, the doorkeepers of Vaikuëöha. Merging into the body of Kåñëa was not their final destination. For some time they remained merged, and later they received the liberations of särüpya and sälokya, living on the same planet as the Lord in the same bodily form.”

This is confirmed in the following reference from Priti Sandarbha Anuccheda 13                                                                                                                                                                                   “Sometimes, if the Lord wishes to enjoy pastimes with that individual soul, the Lord may send him out of that merged condition and make him a personal associate of the Lord. Çiçupäla and Dantavakra are examples of this. First they attained säyujya liberation, and then afterwards they became personal associates of the Lord. Çré Närada describes them in these words of Çrémad-Bhägavatam (7.1.47):

“These two associates of Lord Viñëu-Jaya and Vijaya-maintained a feeling of enmity for a very long time. Because of always thinking of Kåñëa in this way, they regained the shelter of the Lord, having returned home, back to Godhead.”

SB 11.5.48 also explains Sisupala’s ultimate liberation, as follows: “Inimical kings like Çiçupäla, Pauëòraka and Çälva were always thinking about Lord Kåñëa. Even while they were lying down, sitting or engaging in other activities, they enviously meditated upon the bodily movements of the Lord, His sporting pastimes, His loving glances upon His devotees, and other attractive features displayed by the Lord. Being thus always absorbed in Kåñëa, they achieved spiritual liberation in the Lord’s own abode.”
