Question: Is planning considered to be in the mode of passion? For example, I am a person who plans and executes any activity. This includes both material and spiritual. If I am planning a trip to India from the USA, I plan months in advance to avoid many last-minute issues. If I plan to attend a Krishna Conscious program, I wash dhotis and kurtas, iron them a few days in advance, and keep them ready. Please clarify.
Answer by Romapada Swami:
Planning in advance is good. It will help you stay organized and save time and energy. There are however two things one should keep in mind:
- If planning in advance begins to interfere with one’s daily sadhana or if one is preoccupied with the thoughts of planning much of one’s day, then it is not good.
- Accept that even after perfect planning in advance, our plans may not work, and one is ready to accept the plan of the Lord without any reservation or bad feelings.
