Why do Hindu gods and goddesses use animals as their vehicles?Â
Answer by Romapada Swami:
Conveyances of the Devas are on an elevated platform as they are, namely celestial. Celestial carriers are not to be considered like ordinary carriers. Rather, they have a mood of service to a particular deva, and there is a relationship of reciprocation between the carrier and the deva, and vice versa. Commonly, animals have a respectful and faithful mood towards those who care for them. This may be a primary reason why devas have other species as their carriers.
